SLOUCH BEANIE/WRIST WARMERS/COWL - FREE PATTERN

Knit this gorgeous FREE pattern in any of our beautiful Alpaca Baby Brushed Yarns!

 

Materials: 14ply Baby Brush Alpaca 50 gram balls Colour Vivid Blue

Beanie: 1 x 50 gram ball
Wrist Warmers: 1 x 50 gram ball
Cowl/Scarf: 1 x 50 gram ball

Needles: 5mm straight needles or size to get tension approx - 15sts to 10cm in width for all garments.

Slouch Beanie - approx. 48gms. Measures 54 cm head. Materials: 1 x 50gm 14ply Brushed Alpaca.

Cast on 72 sts.

Ribbed Pattern:
1st row: Purl RS
2nd row: Knit WS
3rd row: Purl RS
4th row: WS purl
5th row: RS knit
6th row: WS purl

Cast on 72 sts.

Work 6 rows as above, continue to repeat these 6 rows until 8 sets of pattern have been worked, ending with purl row.

Begin crown shaping on a knit row.

Shape crown:
1st row: K2, * k2tog, k2 rep from* to last 2 sts, k2tog. 54 sts.
2nd row: Purl
3rd row: P1, *p2tog, p1 rep from* to last 2 sts, p2 tog
4th row: Knit
5th row: P1, (p2 tog) 17 times, p1 19sts
6th row: Purl
7th row: K1 , (k2tog) 9 times. 10sts.

Break yarn with enough length to draw through 10sts and flat stitch seam.

Ribbed Wrist Warmers:

1x 50gm 14 ply Baby Brush Alpaca for size indicated below.
Measure circumference of forearm and calculate number of sts required. Eg for 20cm at forearm cast on 30 sts. Measure the length, knuckles to finished length on forearm. Eg 20 cm.

Cast on 30sts and work in the 6 row pattern as for beanie, until length needed.
Sew up side seams in flat stitch, with a gap to fit thumb through.

Ribbed Cowl/Scarf:

1x 50gm ball of Baby Brushed Alpaca cast on 25sts. Work in 6 row pattern to desired length or finish the ball – approx 76 cm length.

Options: For cowl, sew up seam at cast on and cast off edges. A decorative shawl pin is a great option to fasten cowl or scarf.
